Meetings with Remarkable Men, G.I. Gurdjieff's 1963 semi-autobiographical account of his spiritual search, published by E.P. Dutton in New York and Routledge and Kegan Paul in London, is the primary narrative source for Gurdjieff's own account of his formative travels. Its strength is that it is the founder's own text, a direct record of how Gurdjieff presented his own story. Its limit is that Gurdjieff himself and later scholars have treated much of its narrative as allegorical or embellished rather than literal biography, so it should not be read as verified history.
