The Salesian Society (Salesians of Don Bosco) settled the final Los Angeles Archdiocese era priest abuse lawsuit against it for 19.5 million dollars, split among 17 plaintiffs, just after a jury had been seated in Los Angeles County Superior Court. The suit centered on Father Titian Miani, accused of abusing children in Italy and Canada before the Salesians assigned him to St John Bosco High School in Bellflower, California, in the 1960s. The Salesians were the only religious order active in the Los Angeles Archdiocese that had declined to join the Archdiocese's own 660 million dollar settlement with abuse victims in 2007, instead litigating and settling this case separately.
