Report of the Independent Investigation, Sexual Abuse Task Force of the Southern Baptist Convention (the Guidepost Report)

A 288 page independent investigation commissioned by the Southern Baptist Convention's own Sexual Abuse Task Force and carried out by Guidepost Solutions, a third party investigations firm, released May 15, 2022. It examined the Executive Committee's handling of abuse allegations from January 2000 through June 2021 and found the Committee had secretly maintained an internal list of accused clergy and church workers while resisting survivors, stonewalling reform efforts and prioritizing the SBC's own legal liability over responding to reports. Unlike the government commissions above, the SBC itself has no equivalent of a diocese-level central authority, so this report's findings concern the SBC's national Executive Committee specifically rather than the whole of the convention's many autonomous churches.
