Reliable for the scale of the change: the 1941 census recorded about 1,530,112 Sikhs in what became West Punjab, and the 1951 census recorded 35, but the article's own two cited counts of how many left disagree sharply, Khushwant Singh's figure of roughly 2.5 million Sikhs leaving Pakistan nationally against the Military Evacuation Organization's count of only about 3,680 non-Muslims remaining in West Punjab three months after the 15 August 1947 partition; the article states both without resolving the contradiction, which this atlas names rather than picks a side on.
