The Chicago-Lambeth Quadrilateral is the Anglican Communion's own foundational statement of the essentials required for church unity, adopted as Resolution 11 of the 1888 Lambeth Conference from four articles the Episcopal Church's House of Bishops had put forward at Chicago in 1886, the holy scriptures, the Nicene and Apostles Creeds, the two sacraments Christ himself ordained, and the historic episcopate locally adapted. As the Anglican Communion's own adopted primary document it is the correct source for what this ecumenical standard actually states, in the Communion's own official language. Its limit is that it states a normative Anglican position rather than analyzing it, so a claim about how the Quadrilateral has actually functioned in specific ecumenical negotiations needs a scholarly historical source alongside this primary text.
