The Holy Chalice (Cathedral of Valencia)

This is Valencia Cathedral's own custodial record for the Holy Chalice, the Santo Caliz, maintained by the Metropolitan Chapter that owns, displays and promotes it as an object of Eucharistic devotion, particularly during its jubilee years. As the custodian's own record it is authoritative for the chalice's custody, its devotional cult and the archaeological dating of the agate cup itself to the pre-Christian era. Its limit is that authority does not extend to the further claim that this is the actual cup used at the Last Supper, a matter of tradition and faith rather than archaeological proof, so a claim asserting that identification as established historical fact needs to be distinguished from what the cathedral's own record can actually establish.
