Nicholas Mignanelli's legal-scholarship literature review, "Vodou and the Law," hosted on the Hedgehogs and Foxes legal history blog and summarizing secondary scholarship, principally historian Kate Ramsey's work. Reliable for its own stated fact that anti-Vodou legal provisions were in force in Haiti from 1835 to 1987, and for an 1864 amendment to Article 246 of the Code Penal under President Fabre Nicolas Geffrard criminalizing substances producing "a more or less prolonged lethargic state," framed as targeting Vodou practice. The review does not itself reproduce the 1835 decree's text or name President Boyer directly; this atlas cites it only for the 1835-1987 span it does state plainly.

Assessment
Reliability Tier
3
A named legal scholar's literature review on a legal-history blog, summarizing academic scholarship (chiefly Kate Ramsey) rather than a peer-reviewed journal article itself, tier 3. Used only for the 1835-1987 span of Haiti's anti-Vodou legal provisions, which the review states directly.
Notes
Used for the 1835-1987 span of Haiti's legal suppression of Vodou.
