Two records held together: Smithsonian Folkways Recordings' own catalogue page for "The Way of Eiheiji: Zen-Buddhist Ceremony," describing Eiheiji Temple in its own words as "one of the two [large] training centers for priests and ordained laymen of the Sōtō Zen sect of Buddhism," and naming the subject in the album's own title; and Stanford University Libraries' own SearchWorks catalogue record for the same release, independently assigning the subject headings Buddhism, Zen Buddhism, Buddhist music and Shomyo, and confirming the original Folkways catalogue numbers FR 7960 and FR 8980, the 1957 recording date and the 1959 first release.
