A peer reviewed article reading Beyonce's Lemonade through the lens of the orisha Oshun and Yoruba religious thought. Its strength is that it is a sustained scholarly treatment of exactly the imagery this entry cites, the "Hold Up" sequence's yellow costuming, water and wrath, read against Oshun's documented mythic attributes rather than a general impression of the video. Its limit is that it is one scholar's literary and religious studies reading, not a survey of Yoruba or Santeria practitioner opinion, which the two sources below supply instead.

DOI 10.1111/jpcu.13050. Full title: "The Death and Resurrection of Oshun in Beyonce's Lemonade: Subverting the Institutionalized Borders of Western Christian Thought in American Popular Culture." Bibliographic details confirmed against the publisher's own abstract page; cited here for its documented reading of the Oshun imagery, not for a full read of its argument behind the paywall.
