Origin from 2024

On 24 March 2024, the newly founded World Federation of Daoism held its first conference and council meeting in Luyi, Henan province, traditionally honored as the birthplace of Laozi, with Daoist representatives from twenty eight countries and regions taking part. Federation chairman Li Guangfu and Chen Ruifeng of China's State Administration for Religious Affairs addressed the opening, delegates paid tribute at Laozi's shrine, and Martin Palmer, newly named the federation's special advisor on United Nations affairs, called the gathering a step toward Daoism taking its place among the world's recognized faiths.
