Ascent Invocation Prayers

A prayer invoking or accompanying an ascent, generally the rise of the soul, the sun or a deity, drawn from the ancient corpora, chiefly Egyptian and Mesopotamian, whose prayer literature this fine-grained typology comes from. Ascent imagery of this kind recurs well beyond the traditions filed here, but the subcategory itself is defined narrowly around the ancient sources that use the term.
