Buddhism Roles

Religious roles, offices and titles within Buddhism, spanning monastic ordination, bhikkhu and bhikkhuni, teaching titles conferred within a lineage, and administrative offices within a monastery. Authority here is generally initiatory or lineage based rather than hereditary, though requirements vary between Theravada, Mahayana and Vajrayana institutions.
