Hindu (Vaishnava) Sites

Vaishnava sites are Hindu sites specifically tied to the worship of Vishnu and his avatars, kept apart from the broader Hindu grouping the way the atlas already separates Shakta sites, tied to goddess worship, from that same general entry. The distinction follows the sect's own theology rather than the atlas imposing one: Vaishnava, Shaiva and Shakta traditions each hold competing accounts of which deity is ultimate, and a site's affiliation usually reflects which account its founders held. A site sacred across sects sits in the general Hindu entry instead.
