The sacred sites of Konkokyo, the Japanese new religion founded by the farmer Kawate Bunjiro in 1859 after he came to serve as mediator of the deity Tenchi Kane no Kami, later known by the religious title Konko Daijin. Its headquarters district, Konko-cho in Asakuchi, Okayama Prefecture, grew up around the site of the founder's own home and ministry in what was then Otani village, Bitchu Province, and remains the religion's administrative center, the seat from which its head church oversees congregations across Japan and abroad.
