Healing Song

Songs used within a healing rite, sung to accompany or direct a cure rather than performed as devotional music in its own right, currently represented by the icaros of Amazonian ayahuasca traditions. The category is defined by that ritual healing function rather than by melody or tradition. Excludes healing prayers that are spoken rather than sung, which are catalogued under the prayer type.
