I Ching

I Ching groups the commentary layers appended to the hexagram text, among them the Ten Wings, the traditional set of interpretive essays attributed to Confucius though almost certainly later, and the Shuo Gua, the wing that explains what each of the eight trigrams stands for in nature, family and direction. These sit apart from the hexagram lines themselves as accumulated explanation rather than the divinatory core.
