Theurgic Societies

French orders built around theurgy, ritual practice aimed at direct contact with angelic or divine intelligences rather than at magical operation for its own sake. The Martinist Order continues the current begun by Elus Cohen a century earlier, carried forward through Saint Martin's writing and later formalized by Papus, and both sit apart from the English and German centred orders that dominate the Hermetic Societies.
