Haitian Vodou

Groups the spreadevent entries documenting Haitian Vodou's formation and spread, from its roots among enslaved West and Central African peoples in colonial Saint-Domingue, its syncretism with Catholic practice, and its later diaspora presence in the United States and elsewhere following Haitian emigration. Belongs here: any event marking Vodou's formation, consolidation or diaspora presence in a new setting. Does not belong here: individual lwa veneration or ceremonial events with no broader spread component; the spread events of any other tradition.
