The sacred sites of Tenrikyo, the Japanese new religion founded by Nakayama Miki in the nineteenth century after she came to be revered as the Shrine of God the Parent. The Jiba, the exact spot inside Tenrikyo's main sanctuary at Tenri, Nara, is held to be the place where humanity was conceived and is marked by the Kanrodai, a wooden stand described by the founder, standing at the center of the sanctuary complex that anchors the religion's devotional life, including its monthly Tsukinamisai service held there on the twenty sixth of every month.
