Brazil, officially the Federative Republic of Brazil, is the largest country in South America, a federation of 26 states and a Federal District and the only Portuguese-speaking country in the Americas. The source says it covers roughly half of the continent, borders every other South American country except Ecuador and Chile, and contains most of the Amazon basin, home to the largest river system and the most extensive virgin tropical forest in the world. Traditions, movements, rites and people are placed here when they arose in or belong to the country.
