Passage

Jeremiah 31:33

The Bible

The promise of a covenant written on the heart. The Greek word for covenant here, diatheke, is the word behind 'testament', and Christian tradition took this verse as naming itself: the New Testament. In its own context it promises a renewal of the covenant with Israel, not its replacement.
