The 2/5 profile (Hermit / Heretic) is one of the twelve profiles of Human Design, a modern esoteric system originated in 1987 by Ra Uru Hu and presented here as a contemporary framework rather than ancient wisdom. A profile is formed from two of the six lines, a scheme the system borrows from the six lines of an I Ching hexagram and reads psychologically: the profile pairs a conscious line with an unconscious one to give an archetypal role. The 2/5 profile joins the roles named Hermit / Heretic. The line names and their meanings are Human Design's own twentieth-century reading, not a claim inherited from the Chinese classic whose six-line figures suggested the structure; they are described here as the system presents them, not as verified fact.
Human Design describes the second line, Hermit, as carrying a natural talent largely invisible to the person themselves, requiring solitude and needing to be called out by others; the fifth line, Heretic or Universal, is described very differently, as a practical, crisis solving line that draws projection from people it has never met, being cast by strangers as either a saviour or a scapegoat depending on how its solutions land. The 2/5 profile is accordingly described, within the system's own framework, as an unusually sharp contrast between lines, a natural gift that would rather stay hidden paired with an unconscious role that is instead pulled constantly into public view and public judgement.
