The Juxtaposition Cross of Caring is named for Gate 27 and Gate 28. Human Design reads Gate 27, from Hexagram 27, Nourishment, sitting in the Sacral centre, as the instinct to feed, protect and take responsibility for others, especially the young; and Gate 28, from Hexagram 28, Preponderance of the Great, sitting in the Spleen, as the search for something worth the risk of a life, a struggle for purpose. Juxtaposition Crosses stand apart from the other two families, tied only to the four line one profile, and are read as the most fixed direction the system names.
Its design half is Gate 19 and Gate 33. Gate 19 sits in the Root and is read as sensitivity to what a community needs, whether resources, shelter or closeness; it pairs with Gate 49 in the channel of Synthesis. Gate 33 sits in the Throat and is read as the need to withdraw and hold an experience privately before telling it as something learned; it pairs with Gate 13 in the channel of the Prodigal.
So a chart carrying this cross feeds and risks on its surface, while beneath it a tribal sensitivity to need answers to a private need to withdraw first and speak later. The same pair, reversed, is also the Cross of Risks, and the same channel gates, held instead in the Left Angle family, are the Cross of Alignment. The hexagrams are ancient; grouping them into one fixed cross is the modern system's own construction.
