The Juxtaposition Cross of Experience is named for Gate 35 and Gate 5. Human Design reads Gate 35, from Hexagram 35, Progress, as a hunger for progress and for the feeling only a new experience can supply, and Gate 5, from Hexagram 5, Waiting, as a fixed inner rhythm governing eating, sleeping and work. Juxtaposition Crosses are set apart from the Right Angle and Left Angle families, reserved for the four line one profile, and read as fixed almost past the point of alternative.
Its design half is Gate 22 and Gate 47. Gate 22 sits in the Solar Plexus and is read as a social grace and openness that rises and falls with mood rather than on demand; elsewhere it pairs with Gate 12 in the channel of Openness. Gate 47 sits in the Ajna and is read as a mind working over confusion, sometimes for a long time, until sense finally arrives of itself; it pairs with Gate 64 in the channel of Abstraction.
So the cross joins restless appetite for new experience, Gate 35, to a fixed bodily rhythm, Gate 5, while beneath it emotional grace, Gate 22, sits beside a mind still working toward realization, Gate 47. The numbers are inherited from the I Ching; reading them as one cross belongs to the modern reading, not the classical one.
