The Juxtaposition Cross of Shock is named here for Gate 51 and Gate 57. Its first article reads Gate 51 as competitive courage, the shock that initiates and can startle other people into waking up, now the more exposed gate, and Gate 57 as intuition in the present moment. What it does not trace is where the four gates sit on the wheel itself, the Human Design mandala's division of its sixty four gates into four Quarters, and by that measure this cross draws one gate from each of the four.
Gate 51, the personality gate here, falls in the Quarter of Initiation, purpose fulfilled through mind. Gate 57, its personality partner, falls in the Quarter of Duality, purpose fulfilled through bonding. Behind them, Gate 61 falls in the Quarter of Mutation, purpose fulfilled through transformation, and Gate 62 falls in the Quarter of Civilization, purpose fulfilled through form.
So the startling courage and the present intuition the first article reads on this cross's surface answer to the arcs of mind and bonding, while the unanswerable mystery and the ordered detail beneath them answer to the arcs of transformation and form. The same pair, exchanged, is this cross's own reversal, the Juxtaposition Cross of Intuition, and, held instead in the Left Angle family, the Cross of the Clarion, both orderings; the Right Angle family carries the identical pair too, as the Cross of Penetration, both orderings. Four gates, four different Quarters, no pair sharing an arc: this cross draws its whole reading from every corner of the wheel's own purpose rather than concentrated in one.
