The Left Angle Cross of Confrontation is named here for Gate 26 and Gate 45, the persuader exposed ahead of the gatherer. Its first article reads Gate 26 as the persuader, a willed salesmanship that can market and, unchecked, exaggerate, now the more exposed gate, and Gate 45 as the gatherer, the voice that holds and distributes a group's resources. What it does not trace is where the four gates sit on the wheel itself, the Human Design mandala's division of its sixty four gates into four Quarters, and by that measure this cross draws one gate from each of the four.
Gate 26, the personality gate here, falls in the Quarter of Mutation, purpose fulfilled through transformation. Gate 45, its personality partner, falls in the Quarter of Civilization, purpose fulfilled through form. Behind them, Gate 6 falls in the Quarter of Duality, purpose fulfilled through bonding, and Gate 36 falls in the Quarter of Initiation, purpose fulfilled through mind.
So the persuasion and the gathering the first article reads on this cross's surface answer to the arcs of transformation and form, while the guarded intimacy and the turbulence beneath them answer to the arcs of bonding and mind, the same four arcs the cross's own reversal, Gate 45 over Gate 26, will draw on again however its two pairs are assigned to personality and design, and the same four gates that also underlie the Juxtaposition Cross of the Trickster and the Juxtaposition Cross of Possession. Four gates, four different Quarters, no pair sharing an arc.
