The Left Angle Cross of Separation is named for Gate 35 and Gate 5, and its first article traces the hunger for progress and the fixed bodily rhythm the two carry, together with their design counterparts, Gate 22 in the Solar Plexus and Gate 47 in the Ajna. What it does not trace is where the four gates sit on the wheel itself, the Human Design mandala's division of its sixty four gates into four Quarters, and by that measure this cross draws one gate from each of the four.
Gate 35, the personality gate, falls in the Quarter of Civilization, the arc whose purpose is fulfilled through form. Gate 5, its personality partner, falls in the Quarter of Mutation, purpose fulfilled through transformation. Behind them, Gate 22 falls in the Quarter of Initiation, purpose fulfilled through mind, and Gate 47 falls in the Quarter of Duality, purpose fulfilled through bonding.
So the restless appetite for new experience and the fixed rhythm the first article reads on this cross's surface answer to the arcs of form and transformation, while the emotional grace and unresolved mind beneath them answer to the arcs of mind and bonding. Four gates, four different Quarters, no pair sharing an arc: the separation this cross names is drawn across the whole wheel's own purpose rather than gathered from a single corner of it.
