This Left Angle Cross of Wishes is named here for Gate 50 and Gate 3, guarded responsibility exposed ahead of the pressure to begin. Its first article reads Gate 50 as the instinctive sense of responsibility that guards a group and decides its rules, and Gate 3 as the pressure to bring order out of a genuinely new beginning. What it does not trace is where the four gates sit on the wheel itself, the Human Design mandala's division of its sixty four gates into four Quarters, and by that measure this ordering draws one gate from each of the four.
Gate 50, the personality gate here, falls in the Quarter of Duality, purpose fulfilled through bonding. Gate 3, its personality partner, falls in the Quarter of Initiation, purpose fulfilled through mind. Behind them, Gate 31 falls in the Quarter of Civilization, purpose fulfilled through form, and Gate 41 falls in the Quarter of Mutation, purpose fulfilled through transformation.
So the guarded responsibility and the pressure to begin the first article reads on this ordering's surface answer to the arcs of bonding and mind, while an elected voice and an opening cycle of feeling beneath them answer to the arcs of form and transformation, four arcs this cross's own reversal, Gate 3 over Gate 50, will draw on again however its two pairs are assigned to personality and design. Four gates, four different Quarters, no pair sharing an arc: this cross draws its whole reading from every corner of the wheel's own purpose rather than concentrated in one.
