From Edinburgh to the Gene Keys

Richard Rudd was born in England in 1967 and attended Stowe School before studying at the University of Edinburgh, where he read comparative religion, esoteric mysticism and Jungian psychology and completed a master's degree in English literature and metaphysics in 1992. He spent the years that followed travelling widely, working in the Australian film industry, training as a teacher of Chi Kung in Thailand and sailing across the Atlantic on a small yacht, a period he has described as an extended personal search.

By his own account, that search culminated in a sustained spiritual experience at age twenty nine that he says lasted three days and nights, which he has described as the origin of the material he later developed into the Gene Keys. He began writing it in a systematic form in 2002 and has continued teaching and expanding it since, and he has twice been named on the Watkins list of the hundred most spiritually influential living people. He has continued to teach and write in the years since, expanding the original book into a wider body of material including audio courses, a companion site and further published volumes, and the Gene Keys organization he leads has grown into an international teaching body with translated editions and licensed teachers operating in several countries.
