The Right Angle Cross of the Four Ways, in this ordering, carries the same pair as the earlier Cross of the Four Ways with sun and earth exchanged, Gate 33 and Gate 19, private withdrawal exposed ahead of community need. Its first article reads Gate 33 as the need to withdraw and hold an experience privately before telling it, and Gate 19 as sensitivity to what a community needs, materially and physically. What it does not trace is where the four gates sit on the wheel itself, the Human Design mandala's division of its sixty four gates into four Quarters, and by that measure this ordering draws one gate from each of the four.
Gate 33, the personality gate here, falls in the Quarter of Civilization, purpose fulfilled through form. Gate 19, its personality partner, falls in the Quarter of Mutation, purpose fulfilled through transformation. Behind them, Gate 24 falls in the Quarter of Initiation, purpose fulfilled through mind, and Gate 44 falls in the Quarter of Duality, purpose fulfilled through bonding.
So the private withdrawal and the felt need of the community the first article reads on this ordering's surface answer to the arcs of form and transformation, while the mind that returns to sense and the instinctive assessment of trust beneath them answer to the arcs of mind and bonding, the same four arcs the rest of the Four Ways family draws on however its two pairs are assigned and ordered. Putting withdrawal ahead of communal need changes what this variant puts forward, but not which Quarters supply its four gates.
