The Right Angle Cross of the Sleeping Phoenix is named for Gate 59 and Gate 55, the same pair the Left Angle Cross of Spirit carries. Human Design reads Gate 59, from Hexagram 59, Dispersion, sits in the Sacral centre and is read as the energy that breaks down barriers between people; and Gate 55, from Hexagram 55, Abundance, sits in the Solar Plexus and is read as an emotional weather swinging between melancholy and abundance. It falls in the Right Angle family, and practitioners describe that group as the personal one, a direction shaped by what the individual decides.
Its design half is Gate 20 and Gate 34, two of the four Integration gates directly linked to each other. Gate 20 sits in the Throat and is read as awareness and expression that occur now rather than in reflection. Gate 34 sits in the Sacral centre and is read as pure power, most potent simply being itself rather than aimed at anyone.
So a chart carrying this cross dissolves interpersonal barriers against a swinging mood on the surface, while beneath it an immediate present-moment voice answers to a raw, self-contained power, both drawn from the tightly linked Integration gates. The hexagrams are ancient; grouping four of them into one personal cross is the modern system's own construction, dated to 1987.
