Yellow Seed is the fourth Solar Seal. Yellow seals, at positions 4, 8, 12, 16 and 20, are placed in the south and carry the quality of ripening in Arguelles's scheme. Its stated triad is flowering as its power, targeting as its action and awareness as its essence. Yellow is the one colour-direction pairing the Dreamspell shares exactly with the Mesoamerican scheme, in which k'an, yellow, is the south; k'an is also the name of this very day, so the coincidence is not accidental but inherited. In practice the seal is read alongside its tone as the fourth of the thirteen kin of the first wavespell.
In the Dreamspell tradition, Yellow Seed, Solar Seal 4, is described as governing awareness, targeting and the flowering of potential, an interpretation Arguelles built from the borrowed seed imagery of the Yucatec day sign Kan. Yellow Seed belongs to the Dreamspell's Yellow colour family, alongside Yellow Star, Yellow Human, Yellow Warrior and Yellow Sun, glossed in Dreamspell teaching as "ripening." This is Arguelles's own interpretive framework, not a translation of Maya belief, and it should be read and described as such rather than presented as what the Tzolk'in day Kan means to the daykeepers who still keep it.
