Hizb, the Sixty Half-Parts

The sixty half-parts, or ahzab, formed by dividing each of the Quran's thirty juz into two roughly equal halves, giving reciters a finer-grained pacing unit than the juz alone. Like the juz, a hizb is a recitation and memorization convention rather than a structural or thematic division of the Quran's own text, and a hizb boundary can fall in the middle of a verse or a surah. Some printed Qurans mark a hizb further into quarters for still finer pacing, but those quarter-marks are not treated as their own textual unit in this atlas.
