Life of Christ in Christian Art

Works of Christian art depicting an episode from the Gospel narrative of Jesus's own life and ministry, apart from the Passion and its immediate aftermath. Includes the raising of Lazarus, the feast of Herod and the beheading of John the Baptist, Christ's forty days in the desert, Christ giving the keys to Peter, and the legend of Christ's own image being portrayed by King Abgar's painter. A scene from the arrest, trial, crucifixion or the risen Christ's earliest appearances belongs to Crucifixion and Passion in Christian Art instead, and a scene centered on Mary rather than Christ belongs to Virgin and Child in Christian Art.
