Juxtaposition Cross of Completion (42/32)

The Juxtaposition Cross of Completion is named for Gate 42 and Gate 32. Human Design reads Gate 42, from Hexagram 42, Increase, sitting in the Sacral centre, as the energy to carry a process through to its natural end rather than abandoning it midway; and Gate 32, from Hexagram 32, Duration, sitting in the Spleen, as the instinct for what will last, and a caution about change undertaken for its own sake. Juxtaposition Crosses are set apart from the Right Angle and Left Angle families, reserved for the four line one profile, and read as fixed almost past the point of alternative.

Its design half is Gate 60 and Gate 56. Gate 60 sits in the Root and is read as the acceptance of limitation, which the system holds is the only ground from which real change can grow; it pairs with Gate 3 in the channel of Mutation. Gate 56 sits in the Throat and is read as the storyteller, stimulating others with ideas drawn from experience whether or not they are true; it pairs with Gate 11 in the channel of Curiosity.

So a chart carrying this cross finishes what it starts and trusts what will last on its surface, while beneath it an acceptance of limits answers to a restless telling of stories. The same channel, reversed, also underlies the Cross of Conservation, and the Left Angle family holds it as the Cross of Limitation in both role arrangements. Both hexagrams are old texts; pairing them this way as a life direction dates from the system's founding in 1987.

Gate 42, the personality gate here, falls in the Quarter of Initiation, purpose fulfilled through mind. Gate 32, its personality partner, falls in the Quarter of Duality, purpose fulfilled through bonding. Behind them, Gate 60 falls in the Quarter of Mutation, purpose fulfilled through transformation, and Gate 56 falls in the Quarter of Civilization, purpose fulfilled through form.

So the finished process and the instinct for what lasts the first article reads on this cross's surface answer to the arcs of mind and bonding, while the accepted limitation and the storyteller's stimulation beneath them answer to the arcs of transformation and form. The same pair, exchanged, is this cross's own reversal, the Juxtaposition Cross of Conservation, and, held instead in the Left Angle family, the Cross of Limitation, both orderings, both already named in this cross's own first article; the Right Angle family carries the identical pair too, as the Cross of Maya, both orderings. Four gates, four different Quarters, no pair sharing an arc: this cross draws its whole reading from every corner of the wheel's own purpose rather than concentrated in one.
