Juxtaposition Cross of Detail (62/61)

The Juxtaposition Cross of Detail carries the same pair as the Left Angle Cross of Obscuration, Gate 62 and Gate 61. Human Design reads Gate 62, from Hexagram 62, Preponderance of the Small, sitting in the Throat, as detail, the organising of facts and particulars into an order that can be spoken; and Gate 61, from Hexagram 61, Inner Truth, sitting in the Head, as the pressure to know the mystery behind existence. Juxtaposition Crosses stand apart from the other two families, tied only to the four line one profile, and are read as the most fixed direction the system names.

Its design half is Gate 3 and Gate 50, unchanged from the Cross of Obscuration. Gate 3 sits in the Sacral centre and is read as the energy to bring order out of the confusion that attends anything genuinely new; it pairs with Gate 60 in the channel of Mutation. Gate 50 sits in the Spleen and is read as values, the instinctive sense of responsibility that guards a group; it pairs with Gate 27 in the channel of Preservation.

Where the Left Angle reading holds this same pressing after mystery as a role circumstance hands back, the Juxtaposition reading fixes it to the four line one profile instead, the same hard beginning and inherited responsibility beneath it either way. The same four gates also underlie the Juxtaposition Cross of Thinking. The hexagrams are ancient; grouping them into one fixed cross is the modern system's own construction.

The Juxtaposition Cross of Detail is named here for Gate 62 and Gate 61. Its first article reads Gate 62 as detail, the organising of facts and particulars into an order that can be spoken, now the more exposed gate, and Gate 61 as the pressure to know the mystery behind existence. What it does not trace is where the four gates sit on the wheel itself, the Human Design mandala's division of its sixty four gates into four Quarters, and by that measure this cross draws one gate from each of the four.

Gate 62, the personality gate here, falls in the Quarter of Civilization, purpose fulfilled through form. Gate 61, its personality partner, falls in the Quarter of Mutation, purpose fulfilled through transformation. Behind them, Gate 3 falls in the Quarter of Initiation, purpose fulfilled through mind, and Gate 50 falls in the Quarter of Duality, purpose fulfilled through bonding.

So the organised fact and the pressing mystery the first article reads on this cross's surface answer to the arcs of form and transformation, while the ordering of new confusion and the guarded responsibility beneath them answer to the arcs of mind and bonding. The same pair, exchanged, is this cross's own reversal, the Juxtaposition Cross of Thinking, and, held instead in the Left Angle family, the Cross of Obscuration, both orderings; the Right Angle family carries the identical pair too, as the Cross of Maya, both orderings. Four gates, four different Quarters, no pair sharing an arc: this cross draws its whole reading from every corner of the wheel's own purpose rather than concentrated in one.
