The Juxtaposition Cross of Grace is named for Gate 22 and Gate 47. Human Design reads Gate 22, from Hexagram 22, Grace, as a social grace that flows or withdraws with the emotional wave, and Gate 47, from Hexagram 47, Oppression, as a mind working over confusion until sense finally arrives. Juxtaposition Crosses are set apart from the Right Angle and Left Angle families, reserved for the four line one profile, and read as fixed almost past the point of alternative.

Its design half is Gate 11 and Gate 12. Gate 11 sits in the Ajna and is read as a mind full of ideas, images and concepts that seek meaning and want to be told, though not necessarily acted on; elsewhere it pairs with Gate 56 in the channel of Curiosity. Gate 12 sits in the Throat and is read as expression that arrives only in the right mood and moment, a caution that can also produce unusual eloquence; it pairs with Gate 22 in the channel of Openness.

So a chart carrying this cross meets a moody grace with a slow mental realization on its surface, while beneath it a mind full of unspoken ideas answers to an expression that will not be hurried into speech. The hexagrams are ancient; grouping them into one incarnation cross is the modern system's own construction.

So the moody grace and the working realization the first article reads on this cross's surface answer to the arcs of mind and bonding, while the untold ideas and the cautious expression beneath them answer to the arcs of transformation and form, the same two design gates the Juxtaposition Cross of Ideas carries as its own personality half, and its own reversal, the Juxtaposition Cross of Oppression, also draws on the same four arcs however its two pairs are assigned to personality and design. Four gates, four different Quarters, no pair sharing an arc: this cross draws its whole reading from every corner of the wheel's own purpose rather than concentrated in one.
