Juxtaposition Cross of the Trickster (26/45)

The Juxtaposition Cross of the Trickster is named for Gate 26 and Gate 45. Human Design reads Gate 26, from Hexagram 26, The Taming Power of the Great, sitting in the Heart or Will centre, as the persuader, a willed salesmanship that can market and, unchecked, exaggerate; and Gate 45, from Hexagram 45, Gathering Together, sitting in the Throat, as the gatherer, the voice that holds and distributes a group's resources. Juxtaposition Crosses form their own family, belonging only to the four line one profile, and Human Design reads them as the tightest, least steerable of the three kinds.

Its design half is Gate 6 and Gate 36, both seated in the Solar Plexus. Gate 6 is read as the friction that both guards and opens intimacy; it pairs with Gate 59 in the channel of Mating. Gate 36 is read as the turbulence of an experience that is genuinely new; it pairs with Gate 35 in the channel of Transitoriness.

So a chart carrying this cross persuades and gathers on its surface, while beneath it a single emotional centre supplies both a guarded intimacy and the turbulence of the untried. The same four gates recur, held instead in the Left Angle family, as two orderings of the Cross of Confrontation and, mirrored again, as the Juxtaposition Cross of Possession. The hexagrams are ancient; grouping them into one fixed cross is the modern system's own construction.

What it does not trace is where the four gates sit on the wheel itself, the Human Design mandala's division of its sixty four gates into four Quarters, and by that measure this cross draws one gate from each of the four.

Gate 26, the personality gate here, falls in the Quarter of Mutation, purpose fulfilled through transformation. Gate 45, its personality partner, falls in the Quarter of Civilization, purpose fulfilled through form. Behind them, Gate 6 falls in the Quarter of Duality, purpose fulfilled through bonding, and Gate 36 falls in the Quarter of Initiation, purpose fulfilled through mind.

So the exaggerated sale and the gathered resource the first article reads on this cross's surface answer to the arcs of transformation and form, while the guarded intimacy and the genuine turbulence beneath them answer to the arcs of bonding and mind. The same pair, exchanged, is this cross's own reversal, the Juxtaposition Cross of Possession, and, held instead in the Left Angle family, the Cross of Confrontation, both orderings; the Right Angle family carries the identical pair too, as the Cross of Rulership, both orderings. Four gates, four different Quarters, no pair sharing an arc: this cross draws its whole reading from every corner of the wheel's own purpose rather than concentrated in one.
