Juxtaposition Cross of Thinking (61/62)

The Juxtaposition Cross of Thinking is named for Gate 61 and Gate 62. Human Design reads Gate 61, from Hexagram 61, Inner Truth, as the pressure to know the mystery behind existence, and Gate 62, from Hexagram 62, Small Preponderance, as the organising of facts and particulars into an order that can be spoken. Juxtaposition Crosses are set apart from the Right Angle and Left Angle families, reserved for the four line one profile, and read as fixed almost past the point of alternative.

Its design half is Gate 50 and Gate 3. Gate 50 sits in the Spleen and is read as values, the instinctive sense of responsibility that guards a group and decides its rules; elsewhere it pairs with Gate 27 in the channel of Preservation. Gate 3 sits in the Sacral centre and is read as the energy to bring order out of the confusion that attends anything genuinely new; it pairs with Gate 60 in the channel of Mutation.

So a chart carrying this cross holds a pressure to know the unknowable, Gate 61, beside a habit of organising detail into speech, Gate 62, while beneath both a guarded set of values answers to the sacral energy that orders a new beginning. The numbers are inherited from the I Ching; reading them as one cross belongs to the modern reading, not the classical one.

Gate 61, the personality gate here, falls in the Quarter of Mutation, purpose fulfilled through transformation. Gate 62, its personality partner, falls in the Quarter of Civilization, purpose fulfilled through form. Behind them, Gate 50 falls in the Quarter of Duality, purpose fulfilled through bonding, and Gate 3 falls in the Quarter of Initiation, purpose fulfilled through mind.

So the pressing mystery and the organised fact the first article reads on this cross's surface answer to the arcs of transformation and form, while the guarded responsibility and the ordered beginning beneath them answer to the arcs of bonding and mind. The same pair, exchanged, is this cross's own reversal, the Juxtaposition Cross of Detail, and, held instead in the Left Angle family, the Cross of Obscuration, both orderings; the Right Angle family carries the identical pair too, as the Cross of Maya, both orderings. Four gates, four different Quarters, no pair sharing an arc: this cross draws its whole reading from every corner of the wheel's own purpose rather than concentrated in one.
