Left Angle Cross of Incarnation (44/24)

The Left Angle Cross of Incarnation is named for Gate 44 and Gate 24, the same pair that names the Juxtaposition Cross of Alertness, here read inside a different angle family. Human Design reads Gate 44, from Hexagram 44, Coming to Meet, as an instinctive memory for people and patterns, a nose for who can be relied on, and Gate 24, from Hexagram 24, Return, as a mind circling the same thought repeatedly until it finally resolves. It falls in the Left Angle family, which practitioners read as fated in flavour, serving something beyond the individual rather than a self chosen plan, which is where the cross reads its name of incarnation from.

Its design half is Gate 7 and Gate 13, both in the G, or Identity, centre. Gate 7 is read as the self cast in the role of leader, guiding others toward a shared future without necessarily holding formal power; elsewhere it pairs with Gate 31 in the channel of The Alpha. Gate 13 is read as the listener, holding what others confide and bearing witness to the past; it pairs with Gate 33 in the channel of The Prodigal.

Carrying the same gates as a fixed Juxtaposition cross but inside a transpersonal, Left Angle reading changes what the pattern is understood to serve, a role handed back by circumstance rather than a note simply held. The hexagrams are ancient; the pairing and the angle both belong to the modern system, dated to 1987.

The Left Angle Cross of Incarnation is named here for Gate 44 and Gate 24, and its first article reads Gate 44 as an instinctive memory for people and patterns, a nose for who can be relied on, together with its design counterparts, Gate 7 and Gate 13, both seated in the Identity center. What it does not trace is where the four gates sit on the wheel itself, the Human Design mandala's division of its sixty four gates into four Quarters, and by that measure this cross draws from only two of the four, not one from each.

Gate 44, the personality gate here, falls in the Quarter of Duality, purpose fulfilled through bonding. Gate 24, its personality partner, falls in the Quarter of Initiation, purpose fulfilled through mind. Behind them, Gate 7 falls in the same Quarter of Duality as Gate 44, and Gate 13 falls in the same Quarter of Initiation as Gate 24.

So this cross, unlike most of its cohort, draws its whole reading from two arcs rather than four: the instinctive read on people and the leadership role beneath it both answer to the arc of bonding, while the circling mind and the listener's witness beneath it both answer to the arc of mind. The cross's own reversal, Gate 24 over Gate 44, draws on the identical two arcs since the same four gates run beneath both orderings, a concentration the wheel's own arithmetic does not require of every cross but this family happens to carry.
