The Right Angle Cross of Planning carries the pair that elsewhere seals into one channel, Gate 37 and Gate 40, the two ends of Community. Human Design reads Gate 37, from Hexagram 37, The Family, sitting in the Solar Plexus, as the warmth of family and friendship, the bargain that holds a household together; and Gate 40, from Hexagram 40, Deliverance, sitting in the Heart or Will centre, as the willpower to work, held against a real need for aloneness and rest. It sits in the Right Angle family, the most populous of the three, and Human Design reads that family as steered chiefly by personal choice.

Its design half is Gate 9 and Gate 16. Gate 9 sits in the Sacral centre and is read as the capacity to attend to the small details a larger idea depends on; it pairs with Gate 52 in the channel of Concentration. Gate 16 sits in the Throat and is read as enthusiasm refined by repetition into real skill; it pairs with Gate 48 in the channel of the Wavelength.

So a chart carrying this cross plans through a felt bargain of belonging on its surface, while beneath it attention to detail answers to a skill proven only by repetition. Whichever gate of the Community channel is exposed, the wheel still supplies one gate from each of its four Quarters.
