Right Angle Cross of Rulership (45/26)

The Right Angle Cross of Rulership carries the same pair as the earlier Cross of Rulership with sun and earth exchanged, Gate 45 and Gate 26. Human Design reads Gate 45, from Hexagram 45, Gathering Together, sitting in the Throat, as the gatherer, the voice that holds and distributes a group's resources, now the more exposed gate; and Gate 26, from Hexagram 26, The Taming Power of the Great, sitting in the Heart or Will centre, as the persuader, a willed salesmanship that can market and, unchecked, exaggerate. It sits in the Right Angle family, the most populous of the three, and Human Design reads that family as steered chiefly by personal choice.

Its design half is Gate 22 and Gate 47, also exchanged. Gate 22 sits in the Solar Plexus and is read as a social grace that flows or withdraws with the emotional wave rather than on demand; it pairs with Gate 12 in the channel of Openness. Gate 47 sits in the Ajna and is read as a mind working over confusion until sense finally arrives of itself; it pairs with Gate 64 in the channel of Abstraction.

Putting the gatherer's voice ahead of persuasion changes what this cross puts forward first, while the same conditional grace and unresolved mind sit beneath it regardless of order. The same channel, unreversed, also underlies another Cross of Rulership under a different role arrangement. Both hexagrams are old texts; pairing them this way as a life direction dates from the system's founding in 1987.

What it does not trace is where the four gates sit on the wheel itself, the Human Design mandala's division of its sixty four gates into four Quarters, and by that measure this ordering still draws on exactly the same four Quarters as the rest of the family, one gate from each.

Gate 45, the personality gate here, falls in the Quarter of Civilization, purpose fulfilled through form. Gate 26, its personality partner, falls in the Quarter of Mutation, purpose fulfilled through transformation. Behind them, Gate 22 falls in the Quarter of Initiation, purpose fulfilled through mind, and Gate 47 falls in the Quarter of Duality, purpose fulfilled through bonding.

So the gathered voice and the persuading will the first article reads on this ordering's surface answer to the arcs of form and transformation, while the conditional grace and the unresolved mind beneath them answer to the arcs of mind and bonding, the same four arcs the rest of the Rulership family draws on however its two pairs are assigned and ordered. The gatherer's voice placed ahead of persuasion changes what this variant puts forward, but not which Quarters supply its four gates.
