Right Angle Cross of Service (52/58)

The Right Angle Cross of Service carries the same pair as the Juxtaposition Cross of Stillness, Gate 52 and Gate 58, both seated in the Root. Human Design reads Gate 52, from Hexagram 52, Keeping Still, as a stillness that holds a person still long enough for perspective to form; and Gate 58, from Hexagram 58, The Joyous, as vitality and the joy of being alive, expressed as an urge to improve things. It belongs to the Right Angle family, the largest of the system's three, read as a personal destiny that answers mainly to the individual's own choices.

Its design half is Gate 17 and Gate 18, the same pair the Juxtaposition Cross of Opinions carries as its own personality half. Gate 17 sits in the Ajna and is read as logical opinions that want to be organised and offered to others; it pairs with Gate 62 in the channel of Acceptance. Gate 18 sits in the Spleen and is read as an alertness to what is flawed and could be set right; it pairs with Gate 58 in the channel of Judgement.

So a chart carrying this cross rests a Root pair of stillness and vitality on its surface, while beneath it a mind still forming opinions answers to a corrective instinct alert for what is flawed. The hexagrams are ancient; grouping four of them into one personal cross is the modern system's own construction, dated to 1987.

All four role arrangements of the same two gate pairs share this same wheel wide spread, one gate from each Quarter regardless of order.
