Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools

The Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, also called the De La Salle Brothers and abbreviated FSC, is a Catholic lay religious congregation founded in France by Jean-Baptiste de La Salle, with papal recognition following in 1725, six years after the founder's death in 1719. The institute is dedicated primarily to education, particularly of economically disadvantaged children and youth, and is headquartered on Via Aurelia in Rome under Superior General Armin A. Luistro, appointed in 2022. As of December 2023 the institute comprised about 2,883 members operating 1,154 education centers across 78 countries, serving roughly 1,160,328 students with the support of 107,827 teachers and lay associates.
