The Order of Minims is a mendicant order of friars and nuns of the Catholic Church founded by Francis of Paola in fifteenth century Italy, officially established in 1435 when two followers joined the founder. Its Latin name, Ordo Minimorum, is abbreviated O.M., and it is known in German speaking regions as the Paulaner Order. Members are distinguished by a vow of perpetual abstinence from meat, eggs and dairy products, described as a Lenten way of life, and the order comprises friars, contemplative nuns and a Third Order of laypeople. As of 2018 the order had about 176 members, including 123 priests, headquartered in Rome.
