Order of St Benedict (Anglican)

The Order of St Benedict within Anglicanism is not a single centralized order but a name shared by multiple independent Benedictine communities, each an autonomous abbey, priory or convent whose members take vows to their own house rather than to one unified order. Each community follows the common rule of life set out in the precepts of St Benedict while developing its own character and charism, and most maintain oblates, lay associates who share in the community's spiritual life without taking vows. Communities using the name are distributed across Australia, England, the Republic of Korea, the United States, Canada, Cameroon, Ghana, South Africa and Wales, each founded at its own date rather than under one shared founding event.
