The Order of the Holy Cross is an international Anglican monastic order for men that follows the Rule of St Benedict. It was founded in 1884 in New York City by Episcopal priest James Huntington and relocated to its primary monastery in West Park, New York, by 1902. The monks' chief ministry is contemplative prayer, including the Divine Office and daily Mass, and the order welcomes more than 5,000 guests annually for individual and group retreats at its monasteries, which operate internationally alongside an associate program for lay participants and diocesan clergy seeking to incorporate Benedictine principles into their own lives.
