Society of All Saints Sisters of the Poor

The Society of All Saints Sisters of the Poor is a religious order of sisters founded in 1851 by Harriet Brownlow Byron to carry out parish work, particularly among the poor and underprivileged, with communities established in London and Oxford, England, and in Baltimore and Catonsville, Maryland, in the United States. The sisters' ministries have included hospice care, nursing homes and shelters for homeless people, notably Helen House, opened in 1982 as the world's first children's hospice for sick and terminally ill children, alongside St John's Home nursing facility and The Porch shelter services. Originally an Anglican order, the American congregation was received into the Roman Catholic Church in 2009, becoming a Catholic religious institute in 2011, while the order continues within the Anglican Communion elsewhere.
