The Society of the Sisters of Bethany is an Anglican religious order following the Rule of St Augustine, founded in 1866 in Clerkenwell, London, by Etheldreda Anna Benett, who had previously belonged to the Society of All Saints Sisters of the Poor before leaving to establish this new community with encouragement from Oxford Movement figures Edward Bouverie Pusey and Richard Meux Benson. Its members are dedicated to retreats, quiet days and parish visiting, and its mother house has been the House of Bethany in Southsea since 1987. As of 2019 the community maintained seven professed sisters, with Mother Mary Joy installed as Reverend Mother that November by Bishop Trevor Willmott.
