A porcelain brush pot titled "Brush Pot with King Wen and the Scholar Jiang Taigong," Jingdezhen ware, China, mid-17th century. King Wen is shown in the well known scene of his discovery of the aged scholar Jiang Taigong fishing by a river, inviting him into royal service in a meeting later read as a model of a virtuous ruler recognizing hidden worth. Held today by the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Asian Art department, under accession 79.2.366.
